Inspired by the “A Painting a Day” movement, Abbey Ryan started making daily oil paintings for her blog, Ryan Studio, on 23 September 2007.

Six years later, Abbey’s blog has had over half a million visitors from over 100 countries. Her paintings have been featured in O, The Oprah Magazine, Seth Godin’s bestseller, Linchpin: Are You Indispensible?, FOX’s Good Day Philadelphia, Brainard Carey’s Making It In the Art World, WYBCX Yale Radio, and posts about her daily paintings on BOINGBOING, among many other publications. Abbey is a long-time member of Her work is in over eight hundred private and public collections all over the world, and has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the United States and Europe.

More importantly, painting has become Abbey’s meditative time and the best part of her day. Attempting to paint every day speaks to Abbey’s interest in ritual, practice, classical still life and trompe l'oeil painting, and the complexities of Internet globalization.

Abbey was fortunate to have studied painting with David A. Leffel at the Art Students League of New York in 2001, and this experience continues to have the greatest impact on her work.

Abbey Ryan was born and raised at the Jersey Shore.
