The RayMar Fine Art Competition is a premier annual online art competition well received by artists, gallery directors and collectors in the art community. The competition recognizes expectional artwork and enables RayMar to reward artists with substantial cash prizes. About the RayMar CompetitionEach month of the competition jurors select and critique 12 Finalist paintings, February 1, 2013 - January 31, 2014. Comments from Linda Tracey Brandon There are at least a million ways to paint and there are also a million ways for a painting to be wonderful. I saw many of them in this month's Raymar contest and it was much more difficult to judge the work than I thought it would be. I wish I could have acknowledged more winners for this month's contest and I'm so honored to have been chosen as a monthly judge. I judged the contest on the basis of several criteria, including the usual technical considerations including design, draftsmanship, visual content, color, value, edges, paint quality, imagination and emotional impact. It should be noted that everyone who judges a contest must rely to some extent on their own personal taste, gut reactions and insights. I saw many wonderful paintings in the contest that I would have liked to have acknowledged and of course another artist judge would have made different decisions and comments.
It's a pleasure to describe why I love the following paintings. Congratulations to all of the artists who entered this month's contest and I wish all of you the best of luck in the months to come!
